Sarcomatous Tumour of Left Upper Jaw: Partial Excision of Bone

17 th May, 1878, with a tumour involving the upper maxilla. Description.?The growth extended from beyond the middle line to as far back as the second molar tooth, having the size of a large duck's egg. It was firm on pressure, projecting on the cheek and reaching as far up as within a finger's breadth of the margin of the orbit ; it also projected inside the mouth to a little beyond the middle line. Here the tumour was soft and not resisting, and extended so far posteriorly as to leave only a narrow portion of the palate plate behind unaffected. It was stated that the tumour commenced to grow about six months before.
